Edible insects: sustainable food for the future?

The global population has been increasing consistently and the way we produce meat, harvest fruits and vegs, specifically in the developing countries, are no longer sustainable. It has been thought that insects could represent a good alternative as a food supply for the growing population. Despite the promising market perspective and the vast use of insects as dietary supply in Africa, Asia and South America, a big distribution supplier of edible insects as well as facilities for their farming do not exist in Europe. This is due to the costumer attitude that is quite negative; however, those who have tried products derived from insects appreciated their taste.
