A “bit” of information

From punched cards to modern USB flash drives, science and technology exploited very different physical phenomena. The aim, anyhow, is always the same: to record and elaborate information. In this paper different computer memories will be described: external supports such as cards, floppy disks, CD/DVD and flash memories as well as internal units like thermionic tubes and RAM.
