What is superresolution microscopy?

This is the second part of a two-article series dedicated to light microscopy and its recent developments. In this article we discuss two techniques that overcome the physical limitations of microscopy using the so-called superresolution methods applied to biological samples, with a focus on STED and PALM methods of analysis.
