This paper provides an overview on “globesity”: which is defined as the global explosion of obesity due to a loss of equilibrium in the man-nature interaction. Genetics and lifestyle as factors that can cause obesity will be explored, as well as the impact and role of the food industry on health and environment. Needed directions on food education, starting from a sustainable food production system will be discussed as models to tackle obesity.
